NGO support programme

National Foundation of Civil Society supports the development of an environment where civil society organizations can thrive by offering different support measures.

County Development Centers
Regional County Development Centres are established all over Estonia and designated to offer supportive services and advice to non-governmental organizations and initiatives as well as entrepreneurs and local governments. In each center, a professional consultant gives free-of-charge information and consultations to NGO’s or civil initiatives throughout their life cycle, starting from facilitating networking with key institutions and actors and helping to set up an organization to giving up to date information in the field or advice on how to develop or renew an NGO. The National Foundation of Civil Society coordinates the work of county NGO consultants.

Database of experts
A database is available with references to professionals who can share their expertise and give advice to NGOs.

Research on civil society
Public consultations are held annually in the second part of the year to define which topics about Estonia’s civil society need to be researched. Arising from the needs, a limit for funding is set and a public bid announced to find a conductor for the research.

Materials
Literature and publications that help to develop an organization or relate to the developments in the civil society are available on the website.

Grants for Support Actions
In this measure, funding is given to one-time events or actions that support the development of NGOs and Estonia’s civil society at large, e.g. handbooks, lectures, trainings etc.

Grants for Civil Society Events
Funding is available for regular events that enhance Estonia’s civil society, are nation-wide and target all NGOs acting in the public interest on Estonia. The events need to be listed in the implementation plan of the Civil Society Development Plan 2015-2020.
